UNJournal Lee Sung Jun | President Lee Jae-myung hosts dinner on the evening of June 23 this year for the members of the Seoul Diplomatic Corps, namely the ambassadors and the charge d'affaires, accredited to Korea.

Diplomatic representatives from 118 countries and representatives from 30 international organizations are invited to meet at the Blue House, the Presidential Mansion.

This is resumption of the diplomatic corps invitation event after 7 years, symbolizing the normalization of diplomatic relations and is aimed at promoting expanded global cooperation through strengthened solidarity with the international community

The dinner is expected to be attended by Ambassador Shafiq Rachadi of Morocco, Dean of the Seoul Diplomatic Corps, as well as ambassadors from 118 countries and representatives from 30 international organizations stationed in Korea.

The diplomatic corps invitation event is a regular diplomatic event that the Republic of Korea has held since 1998. It has established itself as a venue where the President personally invites diplomatic representatives to express his commitment to promoting friendly cooperation and to request support and cooperation regarding key national policy directions and foreign policy.

In particular, this event holds added significance as it is being held at the Blue House's Nokjiwon Garden to invite the ambassadors in Korea, marking the resumption of such gatherings for the first time in seven years since 2019.

Through this, the government plans to announce to both domestic and international audiences the restoration of normal communication channels with the diplomatic corps and to continue expanding substantive cooperation with the international community.

In his dinner speech, President Lee is expected to share the achievements of the foreign policy he has pursued since taking office and the results of his recent tour of Europe.

Furthermore, marking his second year in office, he is expected to explain the direction of the full-scale implementation of "pragmatic diplomacy" and request continued cooperation and support from countries to resolve global issues and promote the common prosperity of the international community.

An official from the Presidential Office stated, "The Republic of Korea regards cooperation and solidarity with the international community as a crucial pillar of national development," and addied, "The government will continue to maintain close communication with the diplomatic corps in Korea and expand international cooperation based on mutual trust and friendship." Meanwhile, this dinner serves as an opportunity to directly convey the new government's diplomatic vision and commitment to international cooperation to countries around the world, and is expected to be an important occasion for strengthening South Korea's global diplomatic capabilities and expanding its role in the international community.
