President Lee Jae-myung meets with Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden

Seeking ways to bolster the long-standing friendly cooperative relationship

President Lee Jae-myung met with Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden on the afternoon of October 15. Crown Princess Victoria is on an official visit to South Korea from October 15 to 17.

 

President Lee welcomed Crown Princess Victoria's visit to Korea and expressed hope that the visit would serve as an opportunity to further strengthen the long-standing friendly cooperative relationship between the two countries across various fields.

 

 

Crown Princess Victoria expressed her pleasure at meeting President Lee. She noted that during this visit, meetings between the business communities and companies of both countries are scheduled, including through the ‘Korea-Sweden Sustainable Partnership Summit’.

 

She expressed hope that cooperation between the two countries would expand not only in the economic sphere but also into new areas such as the green transition and energy.

 

In response, President Lee stated that there are many opportunities for Korea-Sweden cooperation in fields such as advanced technology and renewable energy, and expressed his hope that Crown Princess Victoria's various visit schedules would proceed successfully in this regard.

 

President Lee noted that the Korean people feel a strong affinity for Sweden, citing the popularity of the famous Swedish pop group ABBA and last year's Nobel Prize in Literature win by Han Kang.

 

In response, Crown Princess Victoria remarked that Korean culture, including K-pop, enjoys immense popularity in Sweden. She expressed delight that Korea-Sweden cooperation, however modest, contributes to the global spread of Korean culture and hoped for further strengthening of cultural ties between the two nations.

 

President Lee highly commended Sweden's contributions to peace on the Korean Peninsula, including dispatching medical support teams during the Korean War and operating special envoys to the Korean Peninsula. He expressed his hope for continued close cooperation for the peace and stability of the Korean Peninsula.
